Atonement: Avraham Fried and "Kaparah"

American Orthodox Jewish musical entertainer Avraham Fried brings us today's random tune, called Kaparah. Playing pop Jewish music, and incorporating pop, rock and jazz into Jewish themes with mostly Yiddish lyrics, Fried also sings some songs in "cantor" style. He got his start in the early 1980s after being encouraged by the leader of one of the world's best known Hasidic movements, Lubavitch, of which he is a member. He has released 34 albums, as well as numerous singles and collaborations. Among his nephews are the members of 8th Day, another Hasidic Orthodox Jewish pop band that has been played on this show. You can find Kaparah on his 2016 album Bring the House Down

Listen to songs like this and more on the KUNM Global Music Show every Monday night from 10 pm - 1 am Mountain Standard Time. Live streaming, program information and the two-week digital archive can be found at http://www.kunm.org.
