A blog about world and global music from a guy who co-hosts the KUNM Global Music Show, 89.9 FM Albuquerque/Santa Fe, http://www.kunm.org. I post one song a day, with reflections on the music, life, and whatever else comes into my mind.

Gosh Who Are You: Barobax with Gamno and "Baro To Ki Hasti?"
Today's random tune is by Iranian pop band Barobax. From Tehran, Barobax' music is censored in Iran, but they have achieved a worldwide following through the internet and through Iranian satellite radio from outside Iran. Their name is taken from a pronunciation in Persian of the term for "friends" and is also a bit of a sarcastic take on the phrase as pronounced by certain residents of Tehran. They are joined on this song, Baba To Ki Hasti?, by Iranian hip hop and rap artist Gamno, also from Tehran. The title of the song I have seen translated as "Gosh Who Are You" and the lyrics of the song seem to address a beautiful woman. You can find Baba To Ki Hasti? on their 2016 album Barobax and Gamno and on the 2011 various artists compilation The Balkan Club Night, Vol. 2.
Listen to songs like this and more on the KUNM Global Music Show every Monday night from 10 pm - 1 am Mountain Standard Time. Live streaming, program information and the two-week digital archive can be found at http://www.kunm.org.
