A blog about world and global music from a guy who co-hosts the KUNM Global Music Show, 89.9 FM Albuquerque/Santa Fe, http://www.kunm.org. I post one song a day, with reflections on the music, life, and whatever else comes into my mind.

Defeat the Giant: Soun San and "Pjanch Meah"
Our random song for today is from Cambodian artist Soun San, and is called Pjanch Meah. There is not much information on Soun San, as he is not well known outside of Cambodia, but the album, called They Will Kill You If You Cry (2016), is a compilation album of songs by artists who survived the Khmer Rouge regime which decimated the country's intellectual and cultural traditions. The Guardian describes the album as a kind of southeast Asian blues. The song's title means "Defeat the Giant."
Listen to songs like this and more on the KUNM Global Music Show every Monday night from 10 pm - 1 am Mountain Standard Time. Live streaming, program information and the two-week digital archive can be found at http://www.kunm.org.
