Don't Kick Me There: !DelaDap and "Le Shin"
Today's random tune is by !DelaDap. From Austria, !DelaDap is a music project by Prague producer Stani Vana that began with an international cast of musicians that fused Roma music with jazz, electronica and pop. As of 2012, they have turned more toward urban pop music with elements of club and global folklore. This song, Le Shin, can be found on their 2006 album Dela Paji and on the 2008 compilation Putumayo Presents: Euro Groove.

Fire in the Feet: Parov Stelar and "Demon Dance"
Parov Stelar, the performer of our random tune today, is the stage name of Marcus Füreder, an Austrian musician, composer, producer and DJ. Working in styles ranging from jazz, house, electro and breakbeat, he is one of the early pioneers of the genre called electro swing. He began his career as a DJ at nightclubs in the 1990s. Known as Plasma at the time, he started to get involved in producing and publishing around 2000, and established his own record label in 2003. He broke onto the international electronic music scene in 2004 with his EP Kiss Kiss. He has won numerous Austrian music awards, has been named as one of the most promising producers active in Europe by the BBC, and has worked with the likes of Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry and Lady Gaga. This song, Demon Dance, is an example of his electro swing and can be found on Disc 1 of his 2015 album The Demon Diaries.

At the Gateway to the East: Fatima Spar and the Freedom Fries with "Istanbul"
Fatima Spar and the Freedom Fries provides our random tune for today, called Istanbul. Fatima Spar is an Austrian/Turkish jazz musician who started singing jazz at age 13 but broke it off for a while to study music and theater and then fashion design in Vienna. She left her studies to resume her music career in 2004 and formed Fatima Spar and the Freedom Fries - they promptly won the Austrian World Music Awards. Spar sings in Turkish, English and German and the band's style consists of swing, Balkan brass, calypso and eastern music. She and her band also became the first band from Austria to appear on the official Womex schedule. You can find Istanbul on their 2006 album Zirzop.

I Dub Thee Balkan: La Cherga and "Rembetiko (Shazalakazoo Remix)"
La Cherga, a group of Yugoslavian ex-pats based in Graz, Austria bring's us the random tune for today called Rembetiko. The song is remixed by Shazalakazoo, a two member electronic act from Belgrade, Serbia. La Cherga is a live sound system that fuses traditional Balkan brass and accordion seamlessly with dub. Rembetiko (Shazalakazoo Remix) can be found on La Cherga's 2010 album Fake No More Remixes. It can also be found on the Balkan Club Night #2 compilation CD (2011).
