A blog about world and global music from a guy who co-hosts the KUNM Global Music Show, 89.9 FM Albuquerque/Santa Fe, http://www.kunm.org. I post one song a day, with reflections on the music, life, and whatever else comes into my mind.

Beach the Boat: Solas and "The Maid on the Shore"
Solas, whose name means "light," performs our random tune for today. Solas was formed in 1994 in Philadelphia to play traditional Irish tunes and the original compositions of its members. In 1996 they got their first national exposure on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion radio show and that same year recorded their first album. They are still active despite many personnel changes. This song, The Maid on the Shore, can be found on their second album Sunny Spells and Scattered Showers (1997) and on the compilation CD Putumayo Presents: Celtic Tides (1998).
