A blog about world and global music from a guy who co-hosts the KUNM Global Music Show, 89.9 FM Albuquerque/Santa Fe, http://www.kunm.org. I post one song a day, with reflections on the music, life, and whatever else comes into my mind.

Play It Loud: Les Barons and "Lagos Sound System"
A collaboration between three French producers in London creating music under the name of Les Barons is responsible for today's tune, called Lagos Sound System. These producers assembled a number of musicians from many musical genres that make up modern London, and created music that draws on influences from Brazilian, French, African, and Latin music along with techno, electronica and new music. Lagos Sound System is inspired by the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, and you can hear echoes of the complex drum rhythms that drew on traditional Nigerian music and American funk and jazz. You can find Lagos Sound System on the various artists compilation Putumayo Presents: African Beat (2013).
Listen to songs like this and more on the KUNM Global Music Show every Monday night from 10 pm - 1 am Mountain Standard Time. Live streaming, program information and the two-week digital archive can be found at http://www.kunm.org.
