A blog about world and global music from a guy who co-hosts the KUNM Global Music Show, 89.9 FM Albuquerque/Santa Fe, http://www.kunm.org. I post one song a day, with reflections on the music, life, and whatever else comes into my mind.

Poor Ardor: Nguyên Lê and Ngô Hồng Quang with "Beggar's Love Song"
An interesting melding of styles is the hallmark of our random tune today. Beggar's Love Song is by Nguyên Lê and Ngô Hồng Quang. Nguyên Lê is a French jazz guitarist and composer of Vietnamese descent, known primarily for his interpretations of pop songs from the 60s and 70s. He has been on albums as both leader and sideman, and has worked with a number of well-known musicians. Ngô Hồng Quang, from Vietnam, is a practitioner of traditional Vietnamese music on the lute, fiddle and vocals. On this song they are joined by percussionist Alex Trần. You can find Beggar's Love Song on their 2017 release Ha Noi Duo.
Listen to songs like this and more on the KUNM Global Music Show every Monday night from 10 pm - 1 am Mountain Standard Time. Live streaming, program information and the two-week digital archive can be found at http://www.kunm.org.
