A blog about world and global music from a guy who co-hosts the KUNM Global Music Show, 89.9 FM Albuquerque/Santa Fe, http://www.kunm.org. I post one song a day, with reflections on the music, life, and whatever else comes into my mind.

Back to the Future: Zero 7 and "Destiny"
Today's random song, Destiny, is a melancholy ode by English group Zero 7. Created by studio engineers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker in 1997, Zero 7 first appeared when the duo remixed a Radiohead song, Climbing Up the Walls, followed by remixes of songs by artists such as Lenny Kravitz and the Sneaker Pimps. Zero 7, whose name references a bar on a Mexican island, released their first album in 2001, collaborating on the songs with musicians such as Australian singer-songwriter Sia and English musicians Mozez and Sophie Barker. Zero 7 has released four studio albums and four other albums that comprise remixes and compilations. Destiny can be found on their first album, 2001's Simple Things. The video above is a studio performance at San Diego's KPRI radio, but if you want to see the official video of the shorter version of the song I've included it below.
Listen to songs like this and more on the KUNM Global Music Show every Monday night from 10 pm - 1 am Mountain Standard Time. Live streaming, program information and the two-week digital archive can be found at http://www.kunm.org.
